Red Bull
$2.00
Released January, 1997
The Pros:Has a great taste. First to market - the original when it comes to energy drinks. Can be mixed with Vodka for a great mixed drink.
The Cons:Very expensive for small amounts. Empty Calories. We'll just say suspicious ingredients - e.g. taurine, cocain (WTF), etc, etc...
The original energy drink was founded in Thailand with the intention of combating mental and physical fatigue. The drink has been popular with students and young people as a source of energy through the inclusion of high caffeine levels.

Caffeine amounts do not exceed those of a standard sized cup of coffee, so it cannot be said that it is loaded with caffeine.

gbchaosmaster:
#red_bull It's delicious. It's sweet, with a bit of tartness to balance it out... somewhat reminiscent of SweetTarts, actually. I don't crash at all from caffeine, so I have nothing negative to say about this. Ten out of ten.

#red_bull I actually like the syropy-sweet taste of Redbull...but not the hangover the next day.. Now that Erik has referred to it as 'bull teste juice' lol, I dont think I will be having pleasant thoughts next time I suck one back. The Redbull story is an awesome business story to boot, one of my favorites!

#red_bull I could REAAALLY go for one of these right now!
Among the various drinks available in what i call they 'hyper-expensive' soft-drink market, I feel a little better choosing Red Bull when parting with my hard-earned cash because I know some of it is finding its way into almost every variety of professional sports, from soccer to Formula 1. Who knows where the other competing manufacturers are blowing their sizeable profits.
The wikipedia entry on Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz is a fascinating story of wild business success!
